Remove Budak Ransomware and Decrypt .budak Files

All file types that suddenly changed to .budak are signs of ransomware virus infection. This attack is recognized as highly dangerous malware that belongs to STOP or DJVU family. Computer security professionals elaborated that Budak is a computer threat that normally spreads via spam email messages masquerading as correspondence from prominent organization. Attached file to this email is an executable type in cover-up of document data that when executed will unleash the peril of the hazardous virus.

It is also observed that cyber criminals behind this ransomware are taking advantage of malicious advertising campaign (malvertising) as another channel to deploy the malicious code. On this scheme, the ad usually pop-ups on the browser when visiting insecure websites and recommend the immediate download of the program that claims to be valuable.

No matter how it gains access on the computer, the execution of Budak ransomware triggers the encryption of common file types as .doc, .xls, .ppt, . pdf, .jpg, and so on. Infected data can be easily recognized due to appended extension. For example, picture.jpg will transform to picture.jpg.budak after successful encryption. As final stage of the attack, it leaves a ransom note on specific folders containing .budak files and specifically states the following conditions:

All your files like photos, databases, documents and other important are encrypted with strongest encryption and unique key.
The only method of recovering files is to purchase decrypt tool and unique key for you.
This software will decrypt all your encrypted files.
Price of private key and decrypt software is $980.

Literally, purchasing the tool and unique key is the only method to restore .budak files. However, paying the costly ransom demand does not guarantee the delivery of decryption software and key. Keep in mind that dealing with fraudster is a risky arrangement because they can flee away after receiving the payment.

Budak Virus

As of now, security professionals advises that archiving all .budak files is the best thing to do while waiting for the official free decryption tool from malware researchers. After the backup process, remove Budak ransom virus using the procedures and malware removal tools provided on this page.

Stage 3 : Unlocking files with Budak Decryption Tool

So far, this Budak decryption tool works only for files that were encrypted using offline keys. This happens sometimes if the virus is unable to communicate to remote server to obtain unique keys; instead, it will use offline keys when encrypting files. However, there is a little chance of recovering files using this tool due to limited available offline keys that were integrated with this decryption tool.

For additional information (download link, supported versions, instructions) about StopDecrypter, please proceed to ransomware decryption tool archive page.

If you received a message stating that “No keys were found for the following IDs (.budak)”, please copy and submit the information to the official download page to include your information (log file) and have it archive in case decryption software becomes available.

StopDecrypter Information

We will update this section once the full decryption tool is on hand. In the meantime, please try other options below.

Option 1: Windows Previous Version Tool

Windows Vista and Windows 7 have a feature called Previous Versions. However, this tool is only usable if restore point was made prior to Budak ransomware infection. To use this tool and recover files affected by the virus, please follow these steps:
