Remove Utrausa Pop-ups and Redirects

Utrausa is a website that is owned and controlled by cyber scammers. Its behaviors are established by the web user’s geographical location. For example, it is going to display a pop-up survey in a certain area and pop-up an aggressive type of advertisement in another part of the world. The only certainty about Utrausa is that it is suspicious, and clicking on the ads from this domain will lead to malware or virus infection.

Utrausa pop-up

The site will use misleading pop-up messages to lure web users into subscribing to its push notification. On the initial visit, visitors are presented with a generic message: “Utrausa.azurewebsites.net wants to show notifications.” Because this is typically displayed even on legitimate sites, many web users are deceived to click on the ALLOW button that gives Utrausa full access to notifications of the default browser program.

Aside from the initial message, web users may also see various misleading texts that aim to entice them into permitting Utrausa to use the push notification feature. Here are some samples of the deceitful pop-up:

  • To close this page, click ALLOW
  • Click ALLOW to proceed.
  • The file is ready, click ALLOW to download.
  • To watch video, click on ALLOW button.
  • Type ALLOW to verify that you are not a robot.

As soon as the web user permits Utrausa to use the push notification of the browser program, individuals behind this malicious domain will exploit the feature to deliver advertisements. Unfortunately, these are not common ads; they contain malicious links. Moreover, the pop-up advertisements emerging from Utrausa are too aggressive and completely distract the web user’s browsing session.

Stopping the Utrausa pop-up

In the majority of cases, simply deleting Utrausa from the list of authorized site is enough to stop the pop-up ads. However, certain cases require thorough scanning of the computer using virus and malware removal tools to remove relevant adware. More about this procedure is outlined on the next segment.

Why was Utrausa created?

Misleading actions: First, the website user is prompted to allow push notifications via the domain Utrausa.azurewebsites.net. This malicious website aims to use the computer’s capability to display invasive pop-up advertisements if it is allowed to.

Malicious goal: Generally, the intention is to use the push notification windows of Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, and Microsoft Edge to display different kinds of malicious ads on web browsers. The recurring pop-up ads from Utrausa will thus annoy web users.
