Remove Remk Ransom Virus (.remk File Recovery)

A ransomware is a virus that infects the computer and causes serious issues to PC user’s important files. It aims to locate valuable data, encrypts them using a complex algorithm, and locks it to become inaccessible. To regain access to the files, the attacker will demand a ransom fee in exchange for a decryption tool and private key. One example of this hazardous threat is called Remk Ransomware.

About Remk Ransomware

Remk is a kind of crypto-virus, which encrypts majority of victim’s files in order for handlers to ask for a ransom fee. When certain files suddenly become inaccessible, we may conclude that something is not right and probably a ransomware is the reason behind it. Remk will rename the targeted files by appending .remk extension. The victims will then receive instructions within a note named “_readme.txt” stating how to recover the encrypted files. The ransom fee covers the purchase of a decryption tool and private key. The costs usually demanded by data hackers ranges from $490 to $980 depending on how soon victims can contact them. Cyber criminals typically use crypto-currency, so the payment will be in Bitcoin digital currency.

How Remk ransomware works

Data-locker software or ransomware can access computers in so many ways. But the most efficient way to deliver their virus code is through spam email attachments. Remk operators will send emails to their targets pretending to be from prominent organization in order to gain trust. However, the email contains a ransomware-infected file attachment. Once opened, it results to invade the computer system, most especially when a ransomware have built-in tool for tricking PC user into allowing administrative access. After that, it will start to spy throughout the computer and encrypts the most significant files such as photos, personal documents, and so on.

Remk Ransom Virus

Unfortunately, only Cloy developers have the decryption key for recovering the encrypted files. Therefore, victims tend to settle the payments because they have no other option. Nevertheless, computer security experts suggest that it is not a good solution. Instead, focus on removing Cloy ransomware from the computer.

How to Remove Remk Ransomware

Ransomware files are placed deeply into the system and on various locations, thus, thorough scanning is vital to totally remove Remk virus. Aside from our suggested tool, you may also run your own security program.

Stage 3 : Unlocking files with Remk Decryption Tool

Emsisoft Decryptor for STOP Djvu will work only if affected files were encrypted using Offline Keys. Remk ransomware uses the alternate Offline Keys during encryption if there is a problem encountered while communicating to a remote command-and-control server. Follow the guide to start recovering .remk encrypted files.

1. As precautionary measures, we suggest to BACKUP all your .remk encrypted files first on a separate media (USB Drive, Flash Drive, DVD Discs, etc…).

5. To start recovering files infected by Remk ransomware, click on Decrypt button to start the procedure. The interface will display status of the current decryption process.

We will update this section once the full decryption tool is on hand. In the meantime, please try other options below if the above procedure is not not effective.

Option 1: Windows Previous Version Tool

Windows Vista and Windows 7 have a feature called Previous Versions. However, this tool is only usable if restore point was made prior to Remk ransomware infection. To use this tool and recover files affected by the virus, please follow these steps:
