Another ransomware from STOP family has emerged and this time it is called Radman. It can restrict user’s access to infected files like documents, spreadsheet, presentation, photos, videos, music, and so on. Innocent victims who fall into this tactics may end up having Radman on the computer simply by installing the bogus software. Subsequently, the virus will communicate to a remote server to download additional executable files and further explore software vulnerabilities. If all components are successfully installed on the system, Radman can dominate the computer and disable any security applications. In addition, it can block internet access to computer security websites and forums by altering Windows Hosts file to hinder users from downloading any removal tools and Radman decryption software.

The final stage of Radman virus infection is to encrypt files with a highly sophisticated algorithm. The encryption process affix .radman extension to every infected files. As an example, photo1.jpg will become photo1.jpg.radman after the attack. The virus then place a ransom note on folders of infected files containing instructions to recover .radman files. Unfortunately, restoration using the attacker’s method is too expensive due requested to $980 payment for unique key and decrypter.

Radman Ransomware

Computer security analyst advised to refrain from paying the ransom as it is one of the cause why ransomware keeps on evolving.
