5. The tool will launch the main user interface. Click on Select button.


6. Under “Select Ransomware Name“, please choose CryptXXX. Then, press OK to save your choice.

8. Select a file or Folder that was encrypted by CryptXXX. This tool can either decrypt single file or all files inside the folder and sub-folders.

Option 1: Windows Previous Version Tool

1. Download ShadowExplorer from the official web site.

2. Install the program with the default settings.

3. The program should run automatically after installation. If not, double-click on ShadowExplorer icon.

4. You can see the drop-down list on top of the console. Please select proper drive and the most recent point-in-time shadow copies of files you wish to restore prior to CryptXXX Ransomware infection.


5. Right-click on the Drive, Folder, or File you wish to restore and click Export…

6. Lastly, ShadowExplorer will prompt for location where you want to save the copy of recovered files.

  1. The CryptXXX Ransomware virus is very dangerous. When I turned on my PC, I found my desktop wallpaper changed with the message that I’ve to give $500 to unlock my files. And 3 files where formed in every folder and sub-folders including a .txt file and a .html file. Both these files shown the message for paying the money.

    All my files including images, videos, music changed to .crypt. I have a lot of backups from my iPhone and now I however lost every image, I will try this method to see if I can recover my files. This virus is totally a killer, I hate it.
