A new ransomware called KIANO is identified as variant of Nefilim, hence, there are speculation that its origin is also Nemty. KIANO ransomware may have identified this way due to same nature with variants from the said group. But according to malware researcher @dnwls0719 who discovered this threat, it was developed using complex programming language which is very much the same source code from the threats in mentioned ransomware group.
The spread tactics applied by KIANO ransomware authors is just the same and as usual, they are taking advantage of the mass-mailing campaign. KIANO ransomware executable is attached to email and sends it to a huge amount of email address on their target list.
